A Legacy Built to Last
The first stop of the Step Up Tour brought WFCA to Lakeland, Florida, where Darren Harrison and the Sunshine Interiors team welcomed the industry, their community, and those closest to them for a day of connection and celebration.
Today, Darren Harrison carries that legacy forward, serving as Vice President of Sunshine Interiors and Chair-Elect of the WFCA Board.
Since 1975, Sunshine Interiors has been a locally owned, multi-generational business built on hard work, service, and relationships. Sunshine Interiors is steeped in the community, deeply involved in local charities, and working to lead the central Florida region in training and education for the industry.
Founded by Dennis Harrison and his wife with a sewing machine and a relentless drive to succeed, the company has grown into a respected flooring business known for both its craftsmanship and its commitment to people.
Today, Darren Harrison carries that legacy forward, serving as Vice President of Sunshine Interiors and Chair-Elect of the WFCA Board.
A Moment That Changed Everything
On May 10, 2022, Darren Harrison faced a moment that would forever change his life. While flying as a passenger, he radioed air traffic control with an extraordinary message:
“I’ve got a serious situation here. My pilot has gone incoherent. I have no idea how to fly the airplane.”
With guidance from the ground crew and the grace of God, Darren landed the plane safely—saving the lives of everyone on board. His story later reached a national audience in an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show.
Rooted in Community
Sunshine Interiors’ impact extends far beyond the showroom. One of the most meaningful examples is the Kiwanis Cares Treehouse for Kids at Bonnet Springs Park—an effort made possible through leadership, relationships, and a deep commitment to the Lakeland community.
