Louis A. Spano, Sr
Inducted in:
2002
The legacy of Lou Spano is that of a goodwill Ambassador for retail floor covering. He always wore a smile, looked for goodness in everyone and worked tirelessly to help others. He dropped out of high school to help support his family following his father's death; he purchased the bankrupt Edwards Floor Covering in 1955, and although he did not have financial responsibility, he paid in full all liens against the company, which became Eldorado Carpet One. Spano was President and Chairman of the Retail Floorcovering Institute in 1987-88 and served as President of the Greater Philadelphia Floor Covering Association for longer than anyone else.
